Just 4 Kids Motortrail 2008

Information about the Just 4 Kids Motortrail 2008

The Survey Team have put together what we feel is the best trip ever. You will breakfast with the Nth Qld Toyota Cowboys in Townsville on Friday 8th August and from there travel far and wide to attend our Gala Dinner Presentation night at the beautiful Port Hinchinbrook Resort and Marina at Cardwell on Sunday 17th August.

Our route will take us out to an old fashioned pub night in Ravenswood, with a live band and ghost stories from the past. Then onto Charters Towers where we will be guests of honour at the Mining Industry Ball. The Ball will be themed and we will let you know in plenty of time so you can organise your glad rags. We will be visiting old friends at Pentland after spending the night at Trafalgar Cattle Station, where your hosts Jenny and Roger will ensure a terrific afternoon competing in our own Olympic events.

From Trafalgar and Pentland we travel out through some great country following fence lines through private properties kindly agreed upon by the owners. Everyone was so accepting of us and it was amazing how well we were known through our relationships we developed on the 2007 GAMT. Before arriving in Richmond, we will lunch at “Lammermoore” with the kids from Cameron Downs School. At Richmond we will be attending a community function around the shores of their manmade lake. A Beach Party with music, sand and, of course, the Aussie BBQ. Then onto Julia Creek, once again traversing some wild outback Queensland tracks with a couple of interesting “water holes” to keep you going through the day.

On our way to Normanton and Karumba, you will enjoy morning tea around the dam at “Millungera” Station. This is the largest land hold cattle station in Queensland. We have been invited to be lunch guests of Heidi and Clint at “Iffley”. We were stunned at the beauty of this little oasis in the middle of the dust and flat plains that make up this area. Have those cameras charged up!! Then onto Normanton and Karumba – ooooh the sunset!!!!

A lay day in the Karumba / Normanton area will be fun packed. We don’t want to spoil anything, so you will just have to wait and see what we have in store for you. Anne from Carpentaria Shire is organising an evening function that I’m sure you will remember for a long time. Once again, our fundraising will assist the kids of the local communities.

Cobbold Gorge – what can I say. Different, spectacular, awe inspiring – are all words that leap to mind. Your hosts Gaye and Simon will make your stay at Cobbold very special.

From Cobbold we travel through some truly beautiful country, along roads steeped in history. Take a little time to note the Points of Interest and marvel at your lunch stop at Blencoe Falls. It’s a long day but worth it when you reach your destination. After a BBQ dinner with the local Coast Guard you will be directed to the Port Hinchinbrook Resort and Marina

Richard and Justin have gone out of there way to make your 2 night stay a memorable one. Once again, we don’t want to spoil anything but lets just say it will be a wonderful way to end your journey and a fitting reward for all your efforts of fundraising for the disadvantaged and disabled kids of North Queensland.
